I watched Fright Night as part of the 31 Horror Films in 31 Days Challenge.

Fright Night was one of my favorite movies as a kid. I suppose we could debate whether or not I should have been watching R-rated movies in 1985 – after all, I was only 9-years old – but I loved scary movies then and I love them now. No real harm done?

[Sidebar: Total tangent, but for years I thought star Chris Sarandon was Susan Sarandon’s brother. He’s actually her ex-husband.]

Roddy McDowall’s portrayal of Peter Vincent – a clear homage to Vincent Price – is what makes this film for me. He’s funny and slightly ridiculous and just all around great.

If you’ve never seen Fright Night or have only seen the remake from 2011, do yourself a favor and check it out this Halloween season. I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.
